Commentaires
« I have found adults running arround on Rubus (i.e. Rubus fruticosus agg. and R. caesius] very frequently. This might be the most important larval host plant. But of course it is often associated with Origanum, Rosa and Potentilla species very closely.
Adults can sometimes be swept from flowers of Apiaceae (Umbelliferae). » Stephan Blank.

05/2005, une observation d'abord dans un jardin sauvage voisin du Moeraske et une seconde dans le parc Walckiers (Moeraske). L'animal très nerveux nous a fait pensé tout d'abord à un Pompille à la recherche d'araignée, AD-BH.

Macrophya of this groop in deed behave like a pompilid! Particularly in the mode to run an fits and starts and to lift the wings. These black & red species also resemble a pompilis very much in their color, habitus and the long legs. Many of these Macrophya species occur in dry and warm habitats, which are also preferred by many pompilid species. The group is particularly species rich in Turkey and the Caucasian region, and taxonomy of these species is very unsufficiently resolved there.
But I myself have seen this behavior only in M. militaris, which is more rare then M. annulata and prefers woods. »
