Cette acrocarpe acidophile vert foncé peut prêter à confusion avec Atrichum undulatum. Plus petite (6 cm de haut maximum), Mnium hornum en diffère cependant par ses feuilles qui ne sont pas toutes aussi longues et qui, si elles sont dentées, ne sont pas ''gaufrées'', (MM).
